Since I graduate from high school, me and my best friends have gone to our separate ways… I went to Melbourne to attend college year and I was the first one, from us, who had to leave first and that was
quite dramatic… My friends went to America, Malaysia and Sydney but there are also some of them who stays in Jakarta.
On the last holiday, I went to Jakarta and my friend Abby, whose university is in Jakarta, said to me how she wanted to go to Australia to visit me and my friends in Brisbane and Sydney. I was quite excited that most of my day in Jakarta I asked her if she really is going!
In my last days I spent in Jakarta, I always went out with my friends except those who were not be able to come home, which I call it as our little reunions and yes we have like 15 reunions in a row but it was never boring! Maybe because I know that it is where I belong to and you’ll never get tired of your own home, right?
Two days before I leave, Abby said to me that she couldn’t make it to Australia because she could not get a ticket. I was very sad even I could not tell how sad i was but I can understand her excuse. Her trip was a sudden plan and you will never get a ticket if you didn’t book it from like 3-4 months in advance, since July is a peak season for students to either come back to Australia or home.
On the 21st of July, I officially enrolled to RMIT and starting my new life in university, including bad and good things of course and yesterday was my fourth day in RMIT. Last night, well not that late it was about 6 pm, my phone rang and it said ‘Sassa’ who is my friend from Sydney and thn I pick up the phone and asking what was it. She asked me if I was busy or not and when I say no, she said “Then can you come to Avalon Airport now? Cause it’s kind of freezing here outside! It’s worse than Sydney!”. I jumped from my bed, try to stop a cab, still holding my phone and freaking out!
“Why are you making a sudden visit?!” I said
“To deliver your present and since we haven’t meet for a looooong time so, yeah, I came… suddenly.” she said,
“My birthday is not even until November! Okay, wait for me there!” and then I hang up the call.
It had already cost me like $70 for the cab fare and was thinking I am such an idiot but since my long time no see best friend came I did not take much care about it.
When I arrived at the airport, I saw Sassa standing outside and wrapped her arms as if she was really freezing. I got off the cab and hug her and when I was trying to help her with her luggage, she said “I have a present for you!”.
Someone came from inside the building, ran towards me and struck me with a tight hug… It was Abby. She came to Australia! Even better, she went to Melbourne! I was in a big shock that I was speechless. It was a wonderful yet annoying surprise since I have to pay in total of $150 for the cab, it was more expensive than some clothes that I bought! But it’s okay, I still love the surprise!
Today is Abby and Sassa’s first day in Melbourne. I was planning to take them around but I still have classes until 14.30. I cannot wait for the classes to finish!
