My poor, poor home sweet home. That one phrase abruptly came to my mind when I heard something about Indonesia.
Last night I was staying over at my friend’s house. We were working on our own assignments and essays. Boohoo! Boriiiing, yes! What a way to spend such a lovely weekend. But! We did get fed up and went surfing the internet and decided to check what was on the news. Yeah, we did. We were such a geeky dorks, weren’t we?! (Another) but! We found something that turned on our serious mode.
Indonesian travel poses ‘high threat’

THE Federal Government is warning Australians not to travel to Indonesia because of the “very high” threat of a terrorist attack.
A travel warning issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade urges Australians to rethink travel to Indonesia following news that three men convicted for the 2002 Bali bombings will soon be executed.
“We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to Indonesia, including Bali, at this time due to the very high threat of terrorist attack,” it says.
“We continue to receive reports indicating that terrorists are planning attacks against a range of targets, including Western interests and places frequented by foreigners,” the report says.
It urges Australians who do decide to travel to Indonesia to exercise “extreme caution”.
The upgraded travel advice singles out the pending execution.
“The Indonesian Government announced on 24 October that the three individuals convicted for involvement in the 2002 Bali bombing would be executed in early November 2008,” it says.
Cursed those Bali bombers, they deserved the execution! Look what they’ve done to MY precious Bali. Although I am originally from Jakarta, I love Bali as much as I love Jakarta. Well, who doesn’t love Bali? It’s one of Indonesia’s heavens. I always go to Bali at least once a year. A year without Bali is not perfect.
However, concerns have also grown on my nerve. A lot of questions have been echoing on my head. Is execution the best way? Will it prevent further terrorism acts? When will Indonesia’s image get better? These were what me and my friend discussed until like, 3 in the morning. This issue was just too much, then we dozed ourselves to sleep. I just hope that one day, when I wake up, everybody in the world will totally have no idea what “terrorism” is. I hope…
